I have been trying to place reverb on a mic track just to play through the studio monitors without success. A friend and I spent four hours watching videos and reading and had no luck. Any suggestions?

What kind of cable are you running from drums to tascam? When I plug my Roland TD-1 module into my DP24 my floor Tom pad is super quiet. When I plug headphones directly into my Roland drums everything works perfect? 🤔 must be a cable problem?

OK, 10:52 We really need to talk about this because I'm confused. I'm using the DP32-SD, and I cannot route, let's say, my MPC X has two XLRs coming out, one for left and one for right, which would make it a stereo pair. So no matter how many times I try to route the left (input B) and the right (input C) into stereo track 9/10 on the DP 32. SO B would be assigned to 9, and C would be assigned to 10.... so what you are basically saying is that that CANNOT happen, right? This will lead me to ask why I even have stereo tracks on the DP 32 in the first place. What are they good for? How do I create a stereo pair then two mono tracks one all the way left and one all the way, right? Or does it automatically do that (with a MONO track) while mastering in the mastering section? Another words while mastering it automatically makes a mono track a stereo pair master track? My options when assigning my MPC X to any stereo track is AA, AB, BB, CC, CD, DD, DE, EE, EF, FF, FG, GG, GH, HH... NEVER BC on 9/10 So I will assume that is because of what you have stated at 10:52. This is really confusing, and if that's the case, I could have just used 32 mono tracks instead of 8 on the DP32... and why does the DP24 have more mono tracks (12) than the DP32 (8) does? It would be really awesome to have these questions answered.

I doubt the R12 (twelve what?) will be as huge a success for ZOOM as the R8. A touch display less than half the size of your average smartphone display is no adequate replacement for the merrily tactile buttons and knobs on the R8. User reviews in online shops also seem to favour the R8 over its successor. A pity ZOOM didn't keep both devices in production. A second hand R8 sells at roughly one third of the price of a new R12, btw. As for your video's audio: What did you record it through/on? The same hardware for all takes? Did you do any processing in post? Just wondering ...

Can you use loop while punching in/out points during recording ? This way you can get multiple passes ?

The TX81z has been a favorite of mine for a few years now. It sits in a mix nicely (maybe due to 4 operators) and doesn't lose its character with a ton of external effects applied.

I am what is described as "Old School" who goes back to reel to reel 4 track and 8 track Teac machines. I have progressed to PC recording with the first Logic 4.7 system for PC and Mac. I loved it but have bought a Tascam DP 32 SD and am just now starting to get my feet wet., my devotion is to the Lord Jesus Christ alone and have written several hundred Praise - Worship - Instruction and Warning Christian songs. All I want to do is begin with the first 8 mono tracks at a good balance and mixdown those 8 for starters., all the rest is superfluous right now. I have been neglectful thus far in my pursuit of conquering this beastbut I know with some help I can accomplish the task at hand. ANYON ANYBODY that has suggestions I am open for considerations. Thanks to all who Love the Lord., I feel the others will not be of help. Thanks again~!

Ok, I tried this method and all I got was tremendous feedback in my headphones. I have one line going from Effects Send 2 to my Midiverb unit L input. And the two outputs of my Midiverb going into B and C on the DP32. And which fader controls the amount of reverb? And if I activate stereo bus B and C, I have to press the Stereo Select button to get more than one source button to light up at one time. So I dont know what I'm doing wrong

Great video- I have a question though regarding the sub-out. Does the crossover works as both a low pass for the sub and and high pass for the tops, or is it just a low pass point for the subs and not affect the tops. Nice video, but there are a few inaccuracies with the table: DP-008EX and DP-006 both have 128x64 displays and the DP008EX has a backlight DP-006 also has 4 radial potentiometers, similar to how the DP-008 has 8 DP-006 has balanced inputs with automatic detection of unbalanced plugs

If I need to connect the Zoom R8 into my mixer for singing and playing along to my songs , do I use unbalanced or balanced leads into my mixer's stereo channel ? So I can sing and play guitar over.Thank you for any advice.

You said on the Model 12, recording for tracks 11 and 12 are a "main mix L / R" while pointing to the 7/8 adn 9/10 "Right inputs", calling them "Main Mix L / R". That is not correct. Just look at the back label of the model 12. It's clearly L inputs (XLR) and R inputs (1/4") on the back for inputs 7/8 and 9/10. So where are the true track 11 and 12 inputs? It seems we can record just 10 tracks, because I don't see any inputs for tracks 11 and 12.

Can't add much more really, reading all the affirmative comments and feeling relieved. Daws and plug ins just drain my creativity. I always come back to these stand-alone recorders. Stated with the Roland VS 890, Boss BR-8 (with zip-disks!), Boss BR 1200, 1600-CD, VS2400 and later on the KORG D-3200, a beast. Tried switching to Cubase AI on a laptop, to steer my Yamaha M49, but got so utterly frustrated, that this week i'll switch to one of these Tascams and get the hell on with it! Thanks for the video, it made me tie the knot! 😉

Don’t be mad at me! I watched your video on the Tascam 16 XP! I’m a complainer! Take out the screens and the junk! Build the device digital/analog and keep it old school! Build it to last! This new fangled screens don’t last! And make it simple! All of the multitrack recorder/mixers on the market are terribly inadequate. Honestly, they force the artist to struggle with their junk equipment to achieve the outcome that they need, and they are forced to settle for something less. The XP is exactly that! I’m watching you explain all the different convoluted things the artist must do to achieve something! I need 32 mono inputs assignable to every group and 48 recording tracks to an onboard SD Card recorder. This can easily be achieved in the space in the Tascam 16 XP. I need full Timecode generator capabilities for every flavor. I need 6 insert chains. I need Balanced Mic/Line/Instrument on all 32 Ins with high and lo pass filters. I need 2 main outs, and 16 or 8 subgroups outs! I need built in FX assignable to be used independently routed to what ever track I want thru 6 Aux buses. I need Balance, Trim, compression, sweep mid EQ pot, and phantom power independently assignable on each input. I need LED VUs, and input signal indicators on every fader with LED and analog Meters at the output main bus. It must look awesome! Finally, it must be priced between $1,300 and $2,000 dollars. The XP JUNKER is $5,000 dollars! All of this is doable if they take out the junk and install all of what’s needed! Millions would be sold, tremendous profit would be made at this price point. And every artist wildest mixing dreams could be achieved and the artist would love whatever company comes to market with it! You did a great job on the video! Interestingly, your explanations proved the tediousness and convoluted thinking of the Tascam 16 XP and its complexity. Thanks Ric!

I have been referred to the Zoom R20 for multitrack recording of multiple folk instruments. How can this device be set up in a way that allows each musician to hear the metronome while the ZR20 records everyone at the same time? As opposed to recording individual tracks separately? Or is there a device that better fits this need?
